Grand Lake's Fall Dining Map Has Been Redrawn: Who Moved, Who's New, and Who's Week - Wyatt Poindexter - The Agency ends-Only Now

Grand Lake's Fall Dining Map Has Been Redrawn: Who Moved, Who's New, and Who's Week - Wyatt Poindexter - The Agency ends-Only Now

On Saturday night, Sept. 26, A Taste of Grand came back after several years away. It needed a building to do it. The event had no indoor backup site big enough until Wolf Creek Expo opened its doors, and lake restaurants filled the hall. The top eight competitors finished within 1.5 points of each other. Mulligans won the Supreme Cuisine Award, Shawanoe Steak & Spirits at Indigo Sky took People's Choice, and Cregan's Confections won Best Dessert. Prime Time Charters gave fee-free rides home, and the night raised money for the Integris Grove Foundation.

That was a good night for the lake's restaurants. The week after it showed a different trend. Fall hours at Grand Lake are now mostly a Friday-to-Sunday business. The places opening this season are on highways and town main streets, and a weeknight dinner now usually means a drive inland.

The Weekend Has Swallowed the Schedule

The Grand Lake Bum's Sept. 28 dining update reads like a calendar shrinking in real time. The schedules below come from that column and the Sept. 17 issue of Grand Lake Living.

Spot

Fall 2026 schedule as reported

Scissortail Marina Bar & Grill

Blind Swine Duck Creek

Whitecap at The Landings

Opens 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday

Mooney's, Disney

Closed Tuesdays

Ugly's Grill & Bar

Closed for the season

Eddy's, Sharky's, Blue Bluff Café, BOOM

Closed for the season

Four of the places in the top four rows now serve no meals Monday through Wednesday. Three of them are fully closed through Thursday. Whitecap is the exception, opening Thursday evening. Cregan's Confections has changed its hours too. The Sept. 17 newsletter told readers to check before heading out and gave no new times. These are seasonal hours, and they can change from week to week. A phone call before a Thursday drive across the lake is time well spent.

Midweek Is Where the Map Thins Out

Tuesday through Thursday is where planning matters. Mooney's in Disney is closed Tuesdays, and Beau's in Langley is closed Wednesdays and Thursdays. Most of the reliable weeknight options from the past few weeks sit away from the docks.

The Farmhouse is at 35896 OK-82 in Langley, north of town, in the building that used to be The Artichoke. Grand Lake Living reported it open Tuesday through Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. The restaurant's own site lists 5 to 9 p.m. and the phone number (918) 937-4888. It describes the place as a historic gathering spot with a dining experience that blends the building's history with modern comfort. For anyone on the north end of the lake, that makes Tuesday dinner a short drive on OK-82.

Pickles At The Lake, at 2036 N 3rd Street in Langley, lists hours of 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily on its business page. That is listing data, not a recent hours notice. Still, Pickles keeps showing up in the local calendar. Grand Lake Living's Oct. 1 issue had Magen Faulconer and Dillon Leggett playing there Friday night at 8.

The New Names Are Opening Along Roads

Each opening reported since mid-September has a street or highway address in a lake town.

  1. Fire Pit Restaurant, Grove. The Fire Pit has closed its Drowning Creek location at Wildwood Cove Resort and is moving into the former Speedy's Chophouse space in Grove. As of Sept. 28 it was tentatively set to open Friday, Oct. 2, and was not yet licensed to serve alcohol. Speedy's own site gives that storefront's address as 1623 S Main St. The Fire Pit's reservation profile is still being updated and gives the new unit number two different ways, so look for the old Speedy's building on S Main. The profile lists all-you-can-eat crab legs, smash burgers, steaks, lobster tail, Alfredo and chicken strip dinners. Speedy's itself is permanently closed. We have not seen a confirmed first service yet, so call ahead this weekend.
  2. Forge Scratch Kitchen, Monkey Island. The Forge food trailer moved to Rose Rock, 27600 S Hwy 125, and its patio is open for dinner Friday and Saturday from 5 to 8. As of mid-September it was BYOB while the liquor license was pending, and the owners said it would arrive "very soon." The patio also books live music. Erin Fitzgibbon played there on Sept. 19 with special guest Aries.
  3. Bella's on Grand, Ketchum. Bella's opened in the former Stuff'ns Café space. 360 Grand Lake lists it at 204 Ketchum Ave and says the menu and hours are still to come.
  4. The Farmhouse, Langley. This is a new name and a new start at an address north-end diners already know, 35896 OK-82.

None of the four needs a boat to reach. Fire Pit's move stands out most. It went from a resort cove site to Grove's Main Street, into a building that already had a restaurant kitchen.

A Langley Handoff in November

The Chicken Coop in Langley has been sold to Pickles. The Coop plans to close in November. The Grand Lake Bum expects Pickles' renovation and move to take a while after that. No move date has been announced. Until the work is done, Pickles is still at its N 3rd Street address, and the Coop is open through October. Langley regulars have a few weeks left of the old setup.

Grove has also lost Our House BBQ at Hilltop Inn & Suites, which closed permanently. With Fire Pit arriving on S Main as Speedy's and Our House leave, Grove's restaurant lineup is changing too. It isn't just getting smaller.

Reading This Weekend Against the New Map

This weekend shows the Friday-to-Sunday pattern clearly, and most of it is on land.

The 43rd Annual Pelican Festival runs through Sunday at Wolf Creek Park in Grove. It has arts and crafts and food trucks starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, a Car, Truck & Bike Show at the Grove Masonic Lodge from 10 to 3, and free live music under the Indigo Sky tent. Guns 4 Roses, a Guns N' Roses tribute band, plays Saturday night. The Bum wrote this week that the pelicans have started arriving for the festival named after them.

Saturday also has the year's last farmers market on Grove's Downtown Square. The Bum lists it as 8 to 1, and Grand Lake Living says it opens at 9. Arrive at 9 to be safe. Heartland Classics hosts the 33rd Annual Mahogany & Chrome Classic Boat Show at Cherokee Yacht Club, and it's free and open to the public. The Bum lists the show's hours as 10 to 3. The Grand Lake Sailing Club runs its Long Distance Classic race to the dam and back the same day.

"Saturday evening is a Laketoberfest Celebration at The Shebang and Big Shots on Monkey Island (5:00 p.m.-2:00 a.m.)."

That is the Bum's listing. Grand Lake Living adds that it "runs well into Sunday morning," so arrange a ride home ahead of time. Erin Fitzgibbon plays the Monkey Bar on Saturday night. In Disney, Mooney's Sunset Bar & Grill has The Bobby DeGonia Band on Saturday and a Sunday matinee with Don White at 4 p.m.

The lake is still at summer levels. As of Oct. 1 it measured 742.08 feet with minimal release at the dam, and water temperatures were in the 70s. Good boating water still has a weekend's worth of restaurants on the shore. From Monday through Thursday, a dinner out is more likely on OK-82, Hwy 125, Ketchum Ave or S Main in Grove.

What a lake home is worth depends partly on what's open nearby between Monday and Thursday, not just on summer weekends. If you're thinking about how your property on Grand Lake fits the way the lake runs in the off-season, Wyatt Poindexter knows these shorelines and the towns around them in every season.
