Heard on Hurd: Where Edmond Comes Alive
If you’ve ever strolled down Broadway in Downtown Edmond on a warm evening and felt the energy pulsing through the streets, then you’ve probably stumbled upon Heard on Hurd—a monthly event that’s become a beloved local tradition. It turns the heart of Edmond into a live showcase of food, music, and community.
This season’s last gatherings are coming up: September 20th and October 18th. Join the fun every third Saturday evening and experience why this event has become the highlight of fall in Edmond.
The Beginning of a Downtown
Although Edmond residents existed in the area, the real beginnings of what we now know as Downtown Edmond started in 1887 when the Santa Fe Railroad laid tracks and built a station right here. Originally named “Summit” for its elevation, this station became a vital stop for food, coal, and water.
In 1889, the Oklahoma Land Run brought a surge of activity. That day, Edmond's population went from three settlers (Mr. and Mrs. Steen and their toddler) to over 100. Broadway (then Broad Street) and Second Street suddenly filled with shops and homes, forming the foundation of downtown Edmond as we know it today.
Food Trucks Galore
Every Heard on Hurd night, Broadway fills with trucks serving everything from gourmet burgers and tacos to desserts and local favorites. It’s the place to taste Edmond’s creative side.
Live Music & Local Flavor
The streets come alive with local bands and singers, creating the perfect soundtrack—whether you’re relaxing or dancing along.
