I've lived in Oklahoma my entire life, and after more than 31 years working in real estate, I've had the opportunity to explore an incredible number of restaurants across our state.
One of the things I love most about Oklahoma is that you don't have to travel to New York, Chicago or Dallas to enjoy an exceptional meal. We have outstanding steakhouses, locally owned neighborhood restaurants, incredible Mexican food, creative breakfast spots and some of the best comfort food you'll find anywhere.
But for me, restaurants are about more than food. They're about memories, family traditions, friendships and the places that become part of your life.
And before I get to my current favorites, I have to pay tribute to three restaurants I still wish were around.
Remembering the Oklahoma Restaurants I Still Miss
Crystal's Pizza, Shotgun Sam's and Nicolosi's Pizza.
If you grew up in Oklahoma during the same era I did, those names might bring back some memories.
Crystal's Pizza wasn't just about pizza. It was an experience. Shotgun Sam's was another one of those places that made going out to eat feel like an event. And Nicolosi's Pizza is a name that still brings back great memories.
Restaurants like those remind me how much Oklahoma has changed over the years. We have more dining choices today than ever before, but sometimes I wish I could walk back into one of those old favorites just one more time.
Fortunately, Oklahoma's restaurant scene continues to evolve, and there are plenty of places I genuinely enjoy today.
These aren't paid recommendations or a ranking based on online reviews. They're simply some of my personal favorites, from a lifelong Oklahoman who appreciates great food and a great atmosphere.
My current Oklahoma restaurant favorites:
1. Blockman's Chophouse — Arcadia, Oklahoma
210 Route 66, Arcadia, OK 73007
Website: https://blockmanschophouse.com
Living in Arcadia, I love seeing exceptional restaurants open close to home. Blockman's Chophouse has quickly become one of my favorites.
Located along historic Route 66, Blockman's combines the atmosphere of a neighborhood gathering place with the quality of a destination steakhouse. Its emphasis on premium Wagyu beef, attentive service and an on-site butcher shop makes it a particularly interesting addition to Oklahoma's restaurant scene.
There's something special about finding a restaurant that feels upscale without losing its welcoming Oklahoma personality.
If you enjoy an outstanding steak and appreciate the details that go into a memorable dining experience, Blockman's is worth discovering.
Best for: Date nights, special occasions, steak lovers and anyone exploring historic Route 66.
2. Mahogany Prime Steakhouse — Oklahoma City and Tulsa
Downtown OKC: 145 W Sheridan Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73102
North OKC: 3241 W Memorial Road, Oklahoma City, OK 73134
Tulsa: 4840 E 61st Street, Tulsa, OK 74136
Website: https://mahoganyprimesteakhouse.com
When I think about Oklahoma restaurants that consistently deliver an upscale steakhouse experience, Mahogany is near the top of my list.
Mahogany specializes in prime beef, seafood, refined surroundings and professional service. Whether you're celebrating a birthday, anniversary or simply want an excellent dinner, it's a dependable choice.
I especially appreciate restaurants that understand service is just as important as the food. When you're spending money on a special evening, the entire experience should feel special.
Mahogany has built its reputation around exactly that kind of dining.
Best for: Fine dining, business dinners, celebrations and memorable evenings out.
3. The Lounge Craft Kitchen + Cocktails — Edmond
3601 E 2nd Street, Edmond, OK 73034
Website: https://eddiesdining.com/the-lounge/
The Lounge is one of those restaurants where the atmosphere is part of the attraction.
Its intimate, art-deco-inspired setting offers something different from the typical restaurant experience. It's stylish without feeling overly formal, making it a great option when you want to enjoy an evening out.
I appreciate restaurants that pay attention to their interiors, lighting, presentation and overall environment. Those details make a difference, whether you're designing a beautiful home or creating a memorable restaurant.
The Lounge brings that sense of occasion to Edmond's dining scene.
Best for: Date nights, intimate dinners and special occasions.
4. Neighborhood JAM — My All-Time Favorite Breakfast
Midtown OKC: 525 NW 11th Street, Suite 101, Oklahoma City, OK 73103
Additional locations: Edmond, Yukon, Norman, Tulsa and Oklahoma City
Website: https://thatsmyjamok.com
I'll make this one easy.
Neighborhood JAM is my all-time favorite place for breakfast.
I love breakfast, and I appreciate a restaurant that takes it seriously. Neighborhood JAM offers far more than the traditional eggs-and-toast experience.
From creative pancakes and breakfast sandwiches to eggs Benedict, biscuits, loaded breakfast plates and excellent coffee, the menu has something for just about everyone.
The atmosphere is lively, the portions are generous and the food feels like something worth getting out of bed for.
If you are new to Oklahoma or visiting family in the Oklahoma City area, I would absolutely put Neighborhood JAM on your breakfast list.
One suggestion: weekends can get busy, so consider joining the restaurant's online waitlist before arriving.
Best for: Breakfast, brunch, family outings and starting the weekend right.
5. Hatch Early Mood Food — Oklahoma City, Edmond and Beyond
Automobile Alley: 1101 N Broadway Avenue, Suite 100, Oklahoma City, OK 73103
Chisholm Creek: 13230 Pawnee Drive, Suite 112, Oklahoma City, OK 73114
East Edmond: 851 W I-35 Frontage Road, Suite 130, Edmond, OK 73034
Website: https://hatchearlymoodfood.com
Hatch is another breakfast favorite, and I love the creativity behind the concept.
It's a modern, energetic restaurant with a menu that takes familiar breakfast foods and gives them an interesting twist.
Whether you're in the mood for pancakes, breakfast tacos, a hearty brunch or something lighter, Hatch offers plenty of variety.
The Automobile Alley location is particularly interesting because it reflects the continued revitalization of downtown Oklahoma City. The restaurant also has locations in other Oklahoma communities, including Stillwater and Jenks.
If you're visiting Oklahoma City and want to experience one of our popular modern breakfast spots, Hatch is a great choice.
Best for: Creative breakfasts, weekend brunch and visitors exploring Oklahoma City.
6. Ted's Café Escondido — An Oklahoma Mexican Food Favorite
Original North OKC location: 2836 NW 68th Street, Oklahoma City, OK
Edmond: 801 E Danforth Road, Edmond, OK
Additional locations: Norman, Tulsa, Broken Arrow and other Oklahoma City-area communities
Website: https://tedscafe.com
You can't write an article about favorite Oklahoma restaurants without including Mexican food.
Ted's Café Escondido has been part of the Oklahoma dining scene since 1991, and it remains one of my favorites.
There's something comforting about walking into a familiar restaurant, enjoying the chips, salsa, queso and tortillas, and knowing you're about to have a satisfying meal.
Ted's has built a loyal following around its made-from-scratch approach and familiar Tex-Mex favorites.
Sometimes you don't need an elaborate dining experience. You just want good Mexican food, friendly service and a place that feels familiar.
Ted's delivers that kind of experience.
Best for: Mexican food, casual family dinners and satisfying comfort food.
7. Hidalgo's Mexican Restaurant — Edmond and Moore
Edmond: 200 S Santa Fe Avenue, Edmond, OK 73003
Moore: 2713 S I-35 Service Road, Moore, OK
Website: https://hidalgosrestaurant.com
Another one of my favorite Mexican restaurants is Hidalgo's.
I enjoy restaurants that feel locally connected, and Hidalgo's is a family-owned Oklahoma restaurant with locations in Edmond and Moore.
Its menu includes a wide selection of Mexican favorites, from fajitas and tacos to enchiladas and other traditional dishes.
It's a great choice when you're hungry for Mexican food and want a relaxed setting to enjoy a meal with family or friends.
Oklahoma has some excellent Mexican restaurants, and Hidalgo's deserves a place on my personal favorites list.
Best for: Family dinners, Mexican food and casual dining.
8. Eddie's — Edmond and Chisholm Creek
Edmond: 2828 E 2nd Street, Edmond, OK
Chisholm Creek: 13230 Pawnee Drive, Suite 115, Oklahoma City, OK
Website: https://eddiesdining.com
Eddie's is another restaurant I enjoy because it strikes a nice balance between quality food and a comfortable, casual atmosphere.
The menu focuses on American favorites and scratch-made comfort food, with options ranging from sandwiches and steaks to pasta and other hearty dishes.
It's the kind of place that works for a casual lunch, dinner with friends or watching a game.
One of the things I appreciate most about Oklahoma restaurants is that many of our best places don't try to be overly complicated. They focus on good food, good service and making people feel welcome.
Eddie's fits that description.
Best for: Casual dining, comfort food, families and sports fans.
9. The Mule — Oklahoma City and Edmond
Plaza District: 1800 NW 16th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73106
Downtown Edmond: 16 S Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034
Website: https://themuleokc.com
The Mule is proof that you can build an entire restaurant concept around something as simple as a sandwich and make it memorable.
Known for its creative grilled cheese sandwiches, melts and comfort-food combinations, The Mule has developed a loyal following.
The original Plaza District location is also a great excuse to explore one of Oklahoma City's most interesting neighborhoods, filled with local businesses, art and personality.
I enjoy seeing Oklahoma entrepreneurs create concepts that become destinations rather than just another place to eat.
The Mule is a perfect example.
Best for: Creative sandwiches, casual lunches and exploring the Plaza District or downtown Edmond.
10. Hideaway Pizza — An Oklahoma Classic
Downtown OKC: 901 N Broadway Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73102
Edmond: 116 E 5th Street, Edmond, OK 73034
Additional locations: Stillwater, Norman, Yukon, Tulsa-area communities and more
Website: https://www.hideawaypizza.com
I've enjoyed pizza my entire life, so Hideaway Pizza absolutely belongs on this list.
Founded in Stillwater in 1957, Hideaway has become one of Oklahoma's most recognizable homegrown restaurant brands.
The pizzas are creative, the atmosphere is casual and family-friendly, and it's the kind of restaurant that appeals to several generations.
Maybe that's part of why I appreciate it so much. Growing up with places like Crystal's Pizza and Nicolosi's, I have a soft spot for restaurants that create memories around a pizza table.
Hideaway continues that tradition for Oklahoma families today.
Best for: Pizza nights, family dinners, groups and Oklahoma nostalgia.
11. Shogun Steak House of Japan — Oklahoma City
11900 N May Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73120
Website: https://www.shogunokc.com
Sometimes going out to dinner should be entertaining.
That's one of the reasons Shogun makes my list.
Shogun offers the classic Japanese hibachi experience, where a chef prepares your meal right at the table. It's part dinner and part performance.
Steak, chicken, shrimp and vegetables are prepared on the grill while guests enjoy the experience together.
I particularly like restaurants that make dining feel like an occasion, especially when you're celebrating something or taking the family out.
Shogun has been a familiar choice for that kind of evening in Oklahoma City.
Best for: Family celebrations, birthdays, hibachi and interactive dining.
12. Ranch Steakhouse — Oklahoma City and Norman
Oklahoma City: 3000 W Britton Road, Oklahoma City, OK 73120
Norman: 2120 24th Avenue NW, Norman, OK 73069
Website: https://ranchsteakhouse.com
Oklahoma has a strong steakhouse tradition, and Ranch Steakhouse is one of the restaurants that represents it well.
The restaurant focuses on USDA Prime beef, traditional steakhouse sides and a refined dining experience.
It's the kind of place where you can settle in for a great meal and appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into preparing an exceptional steak.
I think Oklahoma does steakhouses particularly well. Maybe that's our ranching heritage showing through, but there is something fitting about enjoying a great steak right here in Oklahoma.
Ranch Steakhouse is certainly one of my favorites.
Best for: Prime steaks, celebrations, business dinners and special evenings.
13. McClintock Saloon & Chop House — Oklahoma City's Stockyards City
2227 Exchange Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73108
Website: https://mcclintocksaloon.com
McClintock is a great example of a restaurant that reflects Oklahoma's personality.
Located in historic Stockyards City, it combines Western character with steakhouse dining and an atmosphere that feels connected to Oklahoma's cattle and ranching history.
Stockyards City is one of those places that reminds you how important agriculture, ranching and the Western way of life have been to Oklahoma.
I love restaurants with a sense of place, and McClintock certainly has that.
For visitors looking to experience something distinctly Oklahoma, this is an excellent area to explore.
Best for: Western atmosphere, steaks, out-of-town visitors and discovering Stockyards City.
What My Favorite Restaurants Say About Oklahoma
Looking back over this list, one thing stands out to me.
Some of these restaurants are upscale steakhouses. Others are neighborhood breakfast spots, pizza restaurants, Mexican restaurants or casual sandwich shops.
But they all contribute something important to the communities they serve.
They create jobs, bring people together, support local economic activity and help give our cities their individual character.
A great restaurant can help transform a neighborhood into a destination. We've seen that in places like Oklahoma City's Plaza District, Automobile Alley, Midtown, Chisholm Creek, downtown Edmond and historic Stockyards City.
And as someone who has spent more than three decades helping people buy and sell homes, I know how important those amenities are.
When people consider moving to Oklahoma, they don't just ask about home prices or square footage.
They want to know where to eat, where to shop, what neighborhoods have personality and what makes each community special.
Restaurants are a big part of that conversation.
From Great Restaurants to Great Neighborhoods: Why I Love Oklahoma Real Estate
I've spent my entire life in Oklahoma, and I've had the privilege of watching our state grow and change.
Over more than 31 years in real estate, I've helped buyers and sellers throughout Oklahoma City, Edmond, Nichols Hills, Arcadia, Norman, Yukon, Mustang, Tulsa and many other communities.
Today, as Managing Partner of The Agency Oklahoma, I'm proud that our brokerage provides real estate representation throughout the entire state.
Our listings and services extend to Grand Lake, Lake Eufaula, Carlton Landing, Stillwater, Wynnewood and beyond.
One thing that makes The Agency Oklahoma different is that we're not simply an independent local brokerage. We're part of The Agency, an internationally recognized real estate company founded in Beverly Hills by Mauricio Umansky.
That means our clients benefit from local Oklahoma knowledge combined with the connections, marketing resources and collaborative relationships of a global luxury real estate brand.
Whether we're representing a multimillion-dollar estate in Oklahoma City, a waterfront property on Grand Lake, a home in Edmond or a unique property in a smaller Oklahoma community, we believe every client deserves exceptional service.
My career includes more than $1 billion in real estate sales, more than 1,000 homes sold and recognition as Oklahoma's No. 1 individual Realtor by sales volume in the 2026 RealTrends Verified rankings, based on 2025 production.
But beyond the rankings and sales numbers, what matters most to me is helping people discover what makes Oklahoma such a wonderful place to live.
And yes, sometimes that starts with recommending a great restaurant.
