By Wyatt Poindexter – The Agency Oklahoma
Let’s be honest. Writing blogs isn’t the flashiest part of real estate. There are no luxury cars, drone flyovers, or cinematic home tours involved. It’s just me, a keyboard, and a blank screen. But I do it—for a reason.
Actually, a few.
First, It’s About Serving Oklahoma
I was born and raised in Oklahoma. I’ve walked these neighborhoods, driven these country roads, and watched cities like Edmond, Tulsa, and Arcadia grow up around me. Writing about Oklahoma—its homes, communities, and quirks—isn’t just content. It’s personal.
Whether it’s a modern farmhouse in Arcadia, a mid-century stunner in Nichols Hills, or a lakefront retreat at Grand Lake, these homes each have a story. And I believe in telling those stories—because real estate is so much more than just square footage and price tags.
Second, People Actually Read This Stuff
I’ve written blogs about Broken Bow cabins, real estate red flags, fake pre-approval letters (don’t get me started), crazy showings I’ve been on, and even posts about my favorite local coffee shops. And you know what? I’ve had buyers, sellers—even other agents—reach out and say, “I read that article and felt like I knew you.”
Connection builds trust. And trust builds relationships.
That’s real estate.
Third, I Do It for SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
Let’s not ignore the obvious—yes, I write these blogs because they work. Google loves fresh, original content. And when someone searches for "modern homes in Edmond" or "luxury ranches near Tulsa," I want them to find me. I want them to find The Agency.
Real estate is competitive. If you’re not showing up online, you’re invisible. Blogging helps me stay visible—and keeps my clients’ listings front and center.
But Let’s Be Honest…
I try to do one blog per day—but let me tell you, it’s not easy thinking of new content constantly. Sometimes I just stare at my screen and wonder if my keyboard is judging me.
Yes, I’ve been tempted to ask ChatGPT for help (and okay, maybe I have a little), but I really do try to keep it authentic and original. Because let’s face it—no AI knows Oklahoma like I do.
I also try to spend at least 3 hours every single day on social media marketing (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok, youTube, etc). Not because I love hashtags and captions—but because staying relevant in today’s real estate world requires showing up, staying creative, and refusing to get complacent.
Real Stories. Real Reviews. Real Oklahoma.
Over the years, I’ve shared stories from 30+ years in the business:
-
The time a showing turned into a full-blown rodeo (yes, horses were involved)
-
Crazy inspection moments that would make HGTV blush
-
Client stories that remind me why I love what I do
-
Reviews that humbled me
-
Successes that remind me to stay grateful
-
Deals that nearly fell apart—but didn’t
These aren’t just blog posts. They’re pieces of my journey. And if they help even one person make a smarter decision, they’re worth writing.
So Why Do I Blog?
I blog because I care about Oklahoma.
I blog because I want to serve clients better.
I blog because I believe luxury real estate deserves luxury marketing—including the written word.
I blog because words, like homes, should make people feel something.
And Here’s the Positive Part
In a world where everyone’s chasing attention, I’m chasing connection.
Every blog is a chance to help someone feel just a little more informed, a little more confident, and a little more at home—whether they’re buying, selling, or just dreaming.
If that’s not worth writing about, I don’t know what is.
